Libraries that include readers from cradle to grave in SRP:

Estacada Public Library

(503) 630-8273

Estacada invites patrons of all ages to participate in their summer reading program.

Hermiston Public Library

(541) 567-2882

Hermiston offers five programs targeting specific age ranges: Birth to 5 Years, Kindergarten to 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade to 5th Grade, Teens (6th Grade to 12th Grade), and Adults.  Each participant receives an age-range specific summer reading booklet that includes an information sheet about the reading component of the program, reading record, a calendar of special events and programs, activity pages, and book lists.  A particularly good feature of their program is that they allow adults to record the time they spend reading aloud to their children on their adult reading record and their child’s reading record.  Library staff report that this has increased participation in both the Birth to 5 Years and the Adult summer reading programs, and it creates a true sense of summer reading for the whole family.  Staff saw a significant increase in the number of fathers bringing their children to summer reading programs in 2010.
