Libraries that continue storytimes for young children and families during the summer:

Athena Public Library

(541) 566-2470

Athena provides storytime all year round.  Local parents express gratitude for continuing storytime throughout the summer because it makes it easier for them to bring all of their children to the library at the same time to participate in the summer reading program.

Hermiston Public Library

(541) 567-2882

Hermiston continues weekly preschool storytimes at their regularly scheduled day and time throughout the summer to maintain consistent attendance.  Summer storytimes are tied to the same weekly theme as the elementary, teen, and adult summer reading activities at the library.  This common weekly theme across age-specific programs provides families with the opportunity to go home and discuss their personal experience around that theme.

Scappoose Public Library

(503) 543-7123

Scappoose Public Library recently began continuing storytimes during the summer.  This did not happen overnight, the library director understood the value of providing storytimes for young children and their parents all year and  set a goal which required planning and budgeting to reach.  Scappoose is now proud to offer storytimes for their youngest patrons during the summer reading program to engage the whole family in reading over the summer.
